#BernardoFissore

Beginning in 1914, Bernardo Fissore (1892–1973) started his career as a carter and repairman of agricultural wagons and carriages in a small carradoria (wheelwright’s workshop) in Savigliano, in the Piedmont region of Italy. Demonstrating both technical skill and entrepreneurial spirit, he transitioned from simple repairs to more complex bodywork. In 1921, together with his brother Antonio Fissore, he officially founded Carrozzeria Fissore, a company that would go on to become one of Italy’s respected names in the field of artisanal coachbuilding. The enterprise was soon joined by their younger brothers Giovanni and Costanzo, transforming what had begun as a modest family workshop into a structured industrial concern. Under Bernardo’s early guidance, Carrozzeria Fissore evolved from producing horse-drawn vehicles to manufacturing commercial and custom automobile bodies, laying the foundation for several decades of creativity and craftsmanship. Though he gradually stepped back from the limelight in later years, Bernardo remained a key figure in shaping the company’s artisanal ethos and family-run identity until his death in 1973.
