At the launch of the Alfa Romeo 1900, the lack of a bare chassis was soon felt that the most important Italian coachbuilders could "dress" according to the tastes of the wealthiest customers, still accustomed to "tailor-made" cars. The Milanese manufacturer responded to these criticisms less than a year after its launch by presenting the 1900C chassis (C stands for "Carrozzieri").
