THE TARGA FLORIO’S BOOK PROJECT AT AUTO E MOTO D’EPOCA 2024
October 28, 2024
On Sunday, October 27, 2024, at 12:30 pm, the presentation of the Targa Florio car census and the editorial project Targa Florio’s Chassis took place at the ACI Storico space at Auto e Moto d’Epoca in Bologna (Hall 22). This unique event featured Sandro Binelli, author of the Project and founder of Automotive Masterpieces, along with Marco Gandino, Sole Director and Business Development Manager, who introduced the Project in a press conference moderated by Marco di Pietro, a journalist with deep expertise in the automotive world.
The Targa Florio’s Chassis editorial project has received valuable sponsorship from the Automobile Club d'Italia (ACI) and the ACI Storico Club, who supported Automotive Masterpieces’ work as it retraces the sunny roads of Sicily. Vincenzo Florio's creation is one of the oldest car races in the world and the oldest still held today.
The lively and engaging presentation of the book on the cars that raced in the event illustrated the "modus operandi" of Automotive Masterpieces and the unique features of the Targa Florio’s Chassis book, part of the ambitious Chassis Book project, which has already seen the publication of three volumes dedicated to the Mille Miglia.
The Targa Florio’s Chassis book project is the first of its kind: it aims to document all the cars that participated in every edition of the original speed race from 1906 to 1977, as well as the rally race from 1978 onwards. Additionally, cars that participated in the re-enactment events in the spirit of the Targa Florio since the 1970s will also be included. The first book of the series, to be published in the upcoming year, 2025, will focus on 45 cars that raced in the Targa Florio, presented through more than 250 images and documents.
A wonderful occasion, therefore, for meeting and sharing automotive culture.
