Piero Taruffi (Albano Laziale, 12 October 1906 - Rome, 12 January 1988) was an Italian racing driver, motorcycle racer and designer. An excellent driver, record holder, test driver and designer, his palmarès is so vast that it can only be compared with that of the greatest drivers of all time. Taruffi won many prestigious motor racing and motorcycling races. In addition to having conquered several world speed records, he has designed important technical innovations and contributed to the development of several prototypes, including the famous Rondine, considered the first motorcycle of the modern era.
