The FIA Formula 2 Championship (officially called FIA Formula 2 Championship) is a car series for single-seaters on the circuit, introduced in 2005 with the name of GP2 Series, instead of the International Formula 3000 Championship, as a cadet series and preparatory to the Formula 1. From the 2017 season it adopts the current name, thus taking up the Formula 2 name that had already been adopted for the cadet category of Formula 1 until 1984.
